The Position
Registered Nurses in this series conduct inspections of health care facilities and services such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, inmate medical care in prisons and transitional living facilities, intermediate care facilities, home health agencies, health care referral agencies, community triage centers, facilities for refractive laser surgery, ambulatory surgical centers, facilities for treatment of irreversible renal disease, independent physician offices, rural health clinics, hospices, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitative facilities, outpatient physical therapy facilities, adult day care and group care facilities, alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers and half-way houses, obstetrical centers, independent centers for emergency medical care, rehabilitation clinics, occupational and physical therapists, and other facilities and practitioners as directed. Examples of areas for inspection include health care services; policies and procedures regarding admission, discharge, and resident rights; and life safety code compliance.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health within The Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance is recruiting for a Health Facility Inspector II RN located in Las Vegas Nevada. The Health Facility Inspector II, RN position will conduct on-site or off-site surveys for regulatory compliance with state licensure, federal certification, and complaint investigations throughout Nevada.
Inspections are conducted individually or as part of a team. Previous health care experience is preferred. The inspector role requires the individual to: Inspect healthcare facilities for compliance with infection control regulations, which may require the inspector to enter facilities with infectious diseases and be able to comfortably wear a fit tested mask (N-95) for long periods and any other appropriate personal protective equipment. Evaluate compliance with standards, state and federal statutes or regulations through the inspection process utilizing record review, interviews, and observations. Complete all required inspection activities, documentation and follow-up documents required to complete the inspection process in accordance with regulations, statutes, and policies and procedures as applicable, within a defined deadline through paperwork and data entry. The chosen incumbent must successfully obtain qualification by passing an examination, Surveyor Minimum Qualification (SMQT), within the first year of employment. Five years of recent direct care experience in a critical care setting (ER, ICU, NICU, PACU, PICU) preferred. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, one year of professional nursing experience involving direct patient care, and one year of professional experience as an inspector or surveyor in a health-related accrediting organization or in a federal or state regulatory compliance program which involved the inspection, licensing, or complaint investigation of health care or child care facilities to determine compliance with federal or state laws and regulations; OR Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, one year of professional nursing experience involving direct patient care, and one year of professional health administration experience which involved regulatory, inspection or quality assurance responsibilities; OR one year of experience as a Health Facilities Inspector I - RN in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
