DESCRIPTION: This is highly responsible, professional, non-partisan, position in a diversified information and public relations division within the House of Representatives. This position writes and edits materials to be used by House members and leadership staff for a variety of purposes in communicating with their constituents and the media. The position is full-time and is eligible for MO state benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares and produces news releases, speeches, letters, videos, photos, and audio to communicate with, inform, and educate the public and the media regarding activities and accomplishments of the Missouri House and House members. Collects, prepares, interprets, and communicates informational material to support and/or promote the activities of the Missouri House to the public.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, English or closely related field; and five years of professional experience in journalism, public information or public relations, required. A media background and experience in the legislative branch of government preferred.
Applicants must have the ability to remain objective, non-partisan, and professional regarding all legislative matters and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
