Public Relations Specialist – Communications Department

Department of Revenue

Administration Division

Scheduled Hours: Monday – Friday – 40 hours per week

Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri?

This position is responsible for helping drive internal and external communications to increase awareness of DOR services, programs and initiatives. The successful candidate will be engaged in writing newsletters and/or press releases, planning and creating compelling social media content, including designing captivating graphics.

What will you do in this position?

Draft written communications for print and digital formats

Manage and create social media content

Create and write weekly newsletters – write, edit, and publish content

Create and write presentations – draft public presentation content

Create and write press releases

Review content to ensure it’s ready for publication and distribution

What are the qualifications for the position?

Exceptional writing skills

Knowledge of communication software and other relevant professional design programs

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite

Organized and detail-oriented

Strong work ethic

Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner

Must be able to work in a deadline-driven environment

Highly motivated to learn, a self-starter and capable of working independently

Other communication skills such as video production and photography are pluses

Familiarity with Granicus (GovDelivery) a plus

Qualifying experience:

A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
