The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has responsibility for coordinating all hazard disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation operations across Missouri. SEMA operates the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and provides training, grants, and planning support to strengthen Missouri’s resilience against natural and human-caused disasters. SEMA’s mission is to help our fellow Missourians prepare for, respond to, and recover from all emergencies. Each step will be guided by our core values of respect, integrity, trust, honesty and compassion.
This is a managerial position accountable for staff planning and developing, implementing, and evaluating a statewide emergency management program, with a concentration on public health planning and preparedness. Work at this level is primarily focused on supervision and program implementation, requiring thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations and laws, and the ability to address program related operational issues. Accountable for the results of a program’s outcomes and integration. Manages and engages in effective people management activities such as recruitment, training, development, and performance management.

Candidates typically possess a Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of experience in emergency management and/or public health, in addition to 2 or more years of supervisory experience. Must possess, or be able to obtain within 1 year of employment, credentialing as an Accreditation Manager through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program.
Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday; overtime, work on holidays, nights, weekends, etc. may be required during exercises/drills or emergency activations. Flex time may be available. The position involves occasional travel within the state with some overnight travel, and minimal out-of-state travel.
