State of Missouri is Hiring a Deputy Director Near Jefferson City, MO

The Division of Finance and Administrative Services (DFAS) is looking for a Deputy Director to join our team, located in Cole County.

Job Posting Number: 4041 8689037

Semi-Monthly: $4,437.50

Annual Salary: $106,500

Job Location: This position will be located at 221 West High, Jefferson City, MO.

What you’ll do: This position is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the following units within DFAS: Cash Management; Grants/Public Assistance Cost Allocation Plan; Child Welfare Eligibility and Procurement with four staff or more directly reporting to this position.

Minimum Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field; and, four or more years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, purchasing, budgeting, fiscal management, or in general management with some fiscal responsibility. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the stated qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general governmental budgeting, fiscal management, accounting, auditing, general administrative systems, financial procedures, and related practices.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and/or interpret federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as related to the assigned programs.
  • Ability to formulate and initiate plans and procedures for the effective establishment and maintenance of fiscal controls and direct their application.
  • Ability to apply general concepts to specific problems of accounting, auditing, purchasing and procurement procedures, contract management, emergency management, facility and warehouse management and fiscal management practices based upon cost-effective evaluations.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and operations, and formulate recommendations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience at an executive level in a large agency; the ability to motivate staff and exact culture and systemic change; and a heart for service and passion for helping others. Strong leadership and decision-making skills are critical to success in this position. Candidates should have a commitment to collaborative working relationships.
