State of Missouri is Hiring a Data Specialist - OEQ Near Jefferson City, MO

Why you’ll love this position:
The Office of Educator Quality serves all educators by: Setting standards and requirements in the development of pre-service educators and accrediting educator preparation programs in Missouri. Issuing educator certificates to all educators who work in the state’s school systems, as well as assisting with the review of certificate-holders who are charged with misconduct. Assisting with the development of model teacher, leader, librarian, counselor standards, as well as developing evaluation models for school personnel. Delivering educator development programs for practicing educators (teachers and administrators) at the state level.
What you’ll do:

  • Support the implementation of state and federal statutes, standards, and regulations governing all educator preparation programs.
  • Support the review and evaluation of educator preparation programs with a particular emphasis on analysis and interpretation of performance data.
  • Work with the Educator Quality staff to: Provide technical assistance to educator preparation programs to ensure successful completion of required data reports. Assist in the development of data reports for educator preparation program accountability and program improvement. Work with Core Data to maintain and analyze data collection systems. Assist in providing data to stakeholders pertaining to candidates and/or practicing educators for professional certification. Assist in the continued development of an Annual Performance Report for Educator Preparation Programs (APR-EPP).
  • Provide assistance to the National and/or Missouri Technical Advisory Committees for educator preparation accountability systems for recommendations on data collections, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Provide technical assistance to assessment vendors and educator preparation programs.
  • Prepare correspondence in order to communicate results of analyses.
  • Review documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets in order to facilitate analyses and/or to track information.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or High School Equivalency.
  • Two or more years of experience successful performing progressively responsible support tasks.
  • Background in working with data management systems preferred.
  • Experience in multi-tasking to complete work products and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Excel including the ability to pivot and filter data, and write expressions.
  • Intermediate level skill in querying of data from databases.
  • Basic understanding of data analysis concepts.
  • Ability to distill essential information from multiple sources, including complex or technical sources.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities through strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; Proficiency with Tableau or other statistical software packages strongly desired.
