The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Division of Family and Community Services has an opening for a part-time (approx. 26 hours per week), benefited, temporary Technical Records Specialist 1 in the Child and Family Services program to help assist the Child Protection Central Registry Team. This position is located in the Department’s administrative offices in downtown Boise. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, with flexible hours.

Successful candidates must be able to work autonomously and within teams while gaining extensive knowledge of program activities, services, and policies and must display reliability, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, a high level of professionalism, and an exceptional ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks; punctuality and dependability are key for this position. This position will provide a variety of records support functions, including document processing and review; and make determinations and provide explanations of compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and policies as they relate to disclosing record information.

Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Gather information, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments.
  • Perform specialized support work that involves an extensive in-depth knowledge of the program.
  • Review, evaluate, approve, and process records and/or documents.
  • Determine acceptability or conformance to eligibility requirements according to rules, regulations, statutes, and program policies and procedures.
  • Explain requirements, processes, and procedures to customers.
  • Manipulate and update manual and/or computerized records systems.

MINIMUM AND SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum and specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors. Typically requires one year of full-time work experience.
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to collect and compile information with good knowledge of services, operations and programs. Typically requires one year of full-time work experience.
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying a variety of difficult rules, regulations, or policies to determine compliance or eligibility. These complex decisions could have affected the social or economic well-being of others or would result in a service or action being denied.Typically requires one year of work experience.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. Typically requires six months of work experience.

SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience using word processing software to create and modify documents.
    Typically requires one year of work experience.
