Job Description: 

The Workforce Education Data Systems (WEDS) office, within the Florida Department of Education, functions as a data collection and customer support office for district technical centers and community-based organizations providing adult general education and postsecondary career and technical centers and community-based organizations providing adult general education and postsecondary career and technical education. 

The Workforce Education Data Systems (WEDS) office seeks an individual to serve in a full-time position as a Systems Project Analyst. The individual selected for this position will assist in the development, of applications and computer systems that support the department's workforce development information systems and programs. The individual selected for this position will maintain, support, and enhance existing applications, computer systems and web content; as well as participate in major project efforts. 

This position requires knowledge of SAS programming, or strength in other programming languages and the ability to write SQL queries. The applicant must be able to develop work products from concept to completion, assist in technical writing, analyze, and implement division initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses technical and analytical experience and has excellent written and verbal skills. 

Examples of Work: 

Participates in the development, implementation, enhancement and maintenance of computer systems, database programs and computer applications. 

Participates in implementing data collection and data report processing, including but not limited to, extracting data and generating reports. 

Assists in processing, analysis, and verification of data reported by districts. 

Maintains final/supporting documentation of reports/data/analyses. 

Designs, produces, and maintains standard and ad hoc reports as requested. 

Assists in the continuous review of data element definitions, formats, edits and related documentation. 

Coordinates and manages the inclusion of adult education and postsecondary and secondary career and technical education program content into the webpages managed by the Workforce Education Data Systems office on the department's website. 

Coordinates and consults with administrators and staff in the solutions of data processing problems and assists management in defining required data inputs and outputs. 

Develops, updates, and maintains technical and procedural documentation. 

Determines solutions to procedural and operational problems. 

Presents to local groups of staff and administrators at workshops and regional meetings. 

Produces Federal and State level reports. 

Provides technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on data collection and reporting requirements, and data analysis. 

Maintains and improves personal effectiveness by delivering quality and timely products and services;

adapting to changing priorities, demand and expectation; and acquiring and applying new skills and knowledge. 

Maintains position customer/work relationships with customers and vendor through effective personal and written communication and technical assistance and guidance. 

Travel:

This position may be required to travel less than 5%. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Ability to travel. 

Two years of professional work experience working with SAS Programming/SAS Enterprise Guide, SQL and/or other programming languages. 

Experience conducting needs assessment and/or data analysis. 

Skills, Duties and Responsibilities: 

Experienced in SAS programming or other programming languages, and Microsoft SQL Server. 

Experienced in writing SQL queries and stored procedures. 

Ability to communicate effectively. 

Ability to multitask effectively. 

Possess strong organizational skills. 

Ability to effectively collect data and show deductive reasoning skills. 

Ability to conduct fact-find research. 

Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Ability to research and troubleshoot web applications. 

Knowledge of relational database concepts.
