PROSECUTION SERVICES UNIT

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Prosecution Services Unit (PSU) is responsible for providing legal services in the regulation of all health care boards and councils. PSU takes administrative action against healthcare practitioners for violations of the licensee’s practice act.

This position is directly supervised by the Senior Paralegal Supervisor of the Nursing Section within the Prosecution Services Unit of the Office of the General Counsel. Incumbent possesses good judgment and problem-solving skills to ensure work assigned is completed efficiently, timely, and correctly.

Incumbent is responsible for creating electronic case files for new intake cases within the Nursing Section per file maintenance protocol. Incumbent assigns new intake cases and ensures appropriate codes are entered into the LEIDS system. Incumbent prepares case materials for submission to the Probable Cause Panel for the professions of Nursing, Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Respiratory Care and ensures materials are submitted by established deadlines. 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to compile, organize and analyze data and create reports. Ability to work independently; ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to determine work priorities and manage time effectively to ensure proper completion of work assignments in a timely manner. Ability to learn to use a case tracking system. Ability to communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
