The Work You Will Do:

This position is located within the Division of Regulation, Tallahassee Regional Office. This position is responsible for waivers and permits of Florida Statutes and Board rules governing a variety of professions regulated by the department in the 10 Regional Field Offices. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and provides technical assistance on statewide activities concerning "Waivers for the Florida Child Labor Law". Consults/advises employers, schools, parents, and minors on the waivers of the Florida Statutes concerning working minors. Provides training on the waiver process to bring employers into compliance with the law. Analyzes/reviews data for recommended program changes. Determines eligibility and issues "Waivers of the Florida Child Labor Law" based on the Florida Statutes. Researches and provides technical information to staff members, employers, school designees parents and minors on statewide school programs concerining Florida’s K-12 Public School Programs, Charter School Programs, Florida Virtual School Programs and Non-Traditinal School Programs. Coordinates and assigns statewide outreaches between investigators and public school designees. Advises supervisor on statewide waiver persentations. Monitors the Online/OnBase incoming waiver applications and determines eligibility. Monitors and maintains OnBase waiver database. Ensures waiver applications are addressed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates and provides technical assistance on statewide activities concerning "Permits to Hire" in the entertainment industry in Florida. Consults with entertainment industry employers to ensure compliance with the Child Labor law. Identifies training needs and provides training to the industry. Determines eligibility and issues "Permits to Hire" based on the Florida Statutes. Researches statewide entertainment events throughout Florida and provides permit information to production designees and Training Specialist/Investigators. Acts as the liaison between the investigators and production managers in coordinating all entertainment activities to include observational site visits. Consults and serves as liaison with entertainment officials to ensure that the permitting process meets with the Florida Statutes. Monitors the Permits to Hire Entertainment email box. Monitors the Online/OnBase incoming permit applications and determines eligibility. Monitors and maintains Final Report recordings. Ensures permit applications are addressed and completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains working data base and extracts data for monthly reports.
  • Assists with unit’s work such as phone calls, phone complaints, and projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Pay:

Employees are normally hired at the minimum of the range.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of administrative and analytical processes and systems.

  • Ability to type letters, memoranda and other standard business forms in correct format using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

  • Ability to use available technology to perform duties including computer software, fax, copier, virtual printer and scanner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of information gathering and identification of essential information.
  • Skilled in reading comprehension to include understanding written documents in work related context.
  • Ability to organize and maintain records.
  • Ability to read and interpret statutes, rules and review supporting documents.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • Administrative or analyst experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Preferences:

Preference will be given to applicants who have/are:

  • Experience in a regulatory field.
  • Proficient in using OnBase and Versa Regulation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply applicable Florida Statutes, laws, policies and procedures.
