SPECIAL NOTES:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Additional requirements:

  • Experience in publication and web design.

Preference:

  • Experience with Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects and Audition), MS Suite (specifically Planner, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel), and with web design products (Smartsheet, Sitefinity, Sengrid, Brightcove).
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

This position will start at the non-negotiable salary of $50,146.00 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of various methods of data collection and analysis, and the ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data and feedback to develop alternative recommendations; knowledge of basic public and media relations principles; ability to coordinate events; ability to determine work priorities, delegate work and ensure proper completion of work assignments; ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal staff and external partners; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to conduct fact-finding research, solve problems and make decisions; and ability to work within a team and independently. Skill in use of personal computer and laptop. Skill in use of MS Word and Excel; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Captivate and Contribute or other website and graphic design software.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is a professional position that reports directly to the Communications and Outreach Manager. This position is responsible for assisting in the development, management and administration of the Division’s financial and insurance education and marketing programs and preparing written communication and correspondence in conjunction with the Department’s Communication Office.

Assists in the development, management, and administration of comprehensive financial literacy campaigns to educate consumers about insurance and financial-related matters, including developing educational videos, tip sheets, content for online and print publications, etc., and tracks campaigns’ effectiveness. Assists in the development, management and administration of comprehensive marketing plans and campaigns to promote the Department, the Division and the services that are available to consumers, including developing content for the Department’s and Division’s website, social media accounts, outreach materials, etc.

Develops and cultivates community and business partnerships with organizations, associations and other entities that will assist the Division in promoting its initiatives and marketing its services. Prepares written communication and correspondence at the request of the CFO and Communications Office. Assists in identifying and developing consumer protection and awareness initiatives. Evaluates effectiveness of education and outreach programs using data from consumer satisfaction surveys and audience feedback and provides suggestions to increase effectiveness.

Assists the Bureau with drafting responses and researching and gathering data/information in response to public and media inquiries. Develops, coordinates, and attends public events and forums, as requested. Represents the Department and Division at outreach and media events, as requested, which may require travel. Distributes information on consumer awareness and protection activities to appropriate sources.

Serves as liaison with other DFS Divisions regarding public education requests and media activities.

Serves as a member of the DFS disaster response team and in that capacity may be required, on short notice, to perform duties in support of disaster relief efforts. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed.

Attends meetings and training programs that are pertinent to the duties of the position.

Travel may be required.
