State of Alaska is Hiring a Program Coordinator 1/2 Flex Near Juneau, AK

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
This position works directly with community-based subgrantees to ensure all state and federal regulations are being followed, offering technical assistance regarding compliance and grants administration practices via developing training resources, conducting site visits and desk reviews, and everyday correspondence. This position also manages federal grants, submitting reports and applications and ensure the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, (CDVSA) is in compliance with award conditions as the State Administrative Agency of such grants. Additionally, this position works as part of a team for organizing and orchestrating statewide trainings and conferences, as well as develops educational tools and materials for use in disseminating information to subgrantees on best practices and processes of grant administration.

OUR ORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTURE:
The mission of the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, located within the Department of Public Safety, is to promote the prevention and intervention of domestic violence and sexual assault through a statewide system of support, safety, intervention, education and perpetrator accountability and healing. CDVSA's purpose is to empower Alaska communities to create a future free of domestic and sexual violence and to build a comprehensive, interconnected system of services accessible to all Alaskans that will decrease domestic and sexual violence. CDVSA core values are: excellence, passion, receptivity and collaboration.

This position is a flexibly staffed position which provides the opportunity for a PC1 to promote to a higher level PC2 position upon successful completion and certification of our required training objectives and meeting the minimum qualifications for the PC2 position. Work schedules are flexible as long as they fall within State of Alaska business hours.   • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes..
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR 1
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible experience assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative controls, work processes, and/or procedures for a program, project, business, or organization.


PROGRAM COORDINATOR 2

  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
  • Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a program, project, business, organization, or major components of a program, including having administrative authority over the program/project funding, staff, and/or overall operations.

Special Note
:
“Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

Additional Required Information

AT TIME OF INTERVIEW
At time of interview, applicants must provide the items below.
  • Full resume listing education and work experience that provides the skills, knowledge and competencies to carry out the duties of the PC1 or PC2 and/or the ability to gain the required competencies over time.
  • List of three (3) professional references, two of which are from a current or former direct supervisor.
  • Last two (2) performance evaluations, if available.
  • Copy of transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications.

ADDITIONAL INFOMRATION
This position will be required to use the CDVSA Grants Management financial system (Grant Vantage), as well as applicable Federal Grants management systems (GrantSolutions, JustGrants). This position will be required to complete the online federal DOJ Financial Grants Management training to become proficient in the federal financial policies, procedures and practices necessary to manage CDVSA's four federal formula grant awards.
This position is also tasked with developing educational and training materials for public distribution.
This position requires in-state travel for the monitoring of subawards, and/or out-of-state travel for participation in training and national conferences related to grant management.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.

BACKGROUND CHECK
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
