State of Alaska is Hiring an Accounting Technician 2/3 Near Anchorage, AK

ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY!The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Division of Facilities Services is looking for an Accounting Technician 2/3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Pay is based on the location of the selected applicant; salaries will be discussed at the time of the interview.
Accounting Technician 2: $24.65 - $25.88 hourly (depending on location)
Accounting Technician 3: $28.31 - $29.73 hourly (depending on location)

What you will be doing:

The DFS RSA Desk position performs journey level work in accounting and financial management that requires substantial knowledge and coordination of multiple processes and procedures by applying established policy, rules, and regulations. The incumbent performs, handles, and processes all tasks, duties, and responsibilities associated with Reimbursable Services Agreements for DFS. This position also performs financial support activities for capital projects and administrative tasks as otherwise assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Accounting Technician 2:
One year of entry technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
Accounting Technician 3:

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

Additional Required Information

At the time of interview, applicants are requested to submit (if not already attached to your application):

  • Three (3) professional references including daytime contact information.
  • Two (2) most recent performance evaluations.
FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Accounting Technician 2or Accounting Technician 3 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 2, promotion to the Level 3 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
