Mission Statement

Starkey nurtures development and promotes independence of people with intellectual disabilities.

Summary of Position :

This position is responsible for transportation of persons served for medical, psychological, dental and other appointments.

All duties listed below are essential functions of the position.

General Responsibilities :

  • Provide support to persons served for medical appointments
  • Prepares necessary paperwork to be taken to appointment.
  • Provides transportation to scheduled appointments and errands (lab specimen, hearing aids, Rx, etc.).
  • Disseminates information from appointments to appropriate staff, parents / guardians and external service coordinators as necessary.
  • Maintain and complete transportation log and NEMT transportation forms, as appropriate.
  • Follow proper hand washing practices, universal precautions and accepted medical practices / protocol to assure safe and sanitary health care.
  • Provide support to the Health Services department
  • Maintains proper documentation of services.
  • Provides support to the Health Services department, including cross-training, as needed.
  • Provide back-up support for health service clerk, as needed.
  • Meet organizational requirements and expectations
  • CPR, First Aid, Mandt, Medication Administration

  • Act in a manner that is an example to both persons served and coworkers.
  • Participate in meetings and in-service training, as required.
  • Serve and actively participate on committees, as requested.
  • Adhere to assigned work and training schedule.
  • Promote safety practices on the job and throughout the organization.
  • Keep your work area free from hazards.
  • Understand your role in the event of an emergency.
  • Properly use and maintain all equipment.
  • Immediately report any accidents and / or injuries that occur on the job.

Qualifications : Education

Education

High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)

Experience :

Prefer at least one (1) year direct experience working with persons with disabilities

Requirement :

Valid Kansas driver's license or from the state they reside; commercial driver's license preferred
