About the role

As the VP of Information Security, you will be responsible for leading our global Security and data privacy/compliance initiatives. This role will be strategic in determining how we grow our technological footprint and continue to safeguard our customer’s data while ensuring their trust long-term. This is a high-impact leadership position and the ideal candidate will champion our core values as we continue to rapidly scale the company. 

As a VP of Information Security at Starburst you will:

• Develop and implement a forward-thinking security strategy aligned with our business objectives and industry best practices
• Develop security mechanisms, processes, and strategies to ensure Starburst runs smoothly and effectively
• Define and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the organization
• Establish and lead security and compliance-related projects
• Identify, assess, and prioritize security risks to mitigate potential threats to the organization
• Plan and direct the implementation of new technology systems to continue to scale Starburst
• Lead customer due diligence to inspire confidence in the security posture of Starburst within the marketplace (including completion of RFPs, attending customer calls, conducting vendor reviews, and responding to prospect FAQs regarding our cybersecurity controls)
• Lead efforts to protect sensitive data, ensuring compliance is maintained with relevant regulations (GDPR, HIPAA) and industry standards (SOC2, ISO 27001)
• Partner cross-functionally on Starburst’s environmental, social, and corporate governance policy management
• Monitor changes in the technology sector to discover new ways in which the company can improve and develop

• Technical degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
• Experience building, managing, and leading diverse security teams
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Track record of designing and implementing effective security strategies and programs
• Past success in analyzing data, identifying trends, and adjusting strategy accordingly 
• No ego. Strong focus on doing what is right for the customer and the company
• The ability to interface with diverse teams from leaders in business units to individual engineers
• Bonus: SOC/ISO experience

• United States (preference for the east coast)
