Position Title: Safety Specialist

In this role, you will be responsible in ensuring team members comply with our Safety Program and the team is provided with the care they need while on the job. You will render first aid to injured or ill employees, to ensure proper care is received. Our team works 24/7 during the season so flexibility with your schedule and willingness to work graveyard, swing or day shift is required.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

• performing safety audits and inspections.
• performing root cause analysis, reports and developing corrective actions.
• completing accident, incident, and investigations reports.
• supporting management and providing supervision to ensure all site employees understand and comply with all applicable regulatory and plant policies and procedures.

• assisting with safety compliance training, coordinating meetings and other corporate functions.
• sterilizing, disinfecting, anointing, and bandaging minor cuts and burns.
• recording all observed and reported signs and symptoms of injuries in electronic log. Refer injured employees to further medical assistance as needed.
• making transport decisions of injured workers to a health care facility.
• following up with employees, as needed for interactive process.
• confidentially and safely maintain personal and medical records of employees.
• performing a variety of additional clerical duties as assigned by the Safety Manager, including the stocking of supplies, tracking of employee safety equipment, updating plant postings/posters, and the maintenance and upkeep of employee records.
• distributing personal protective equipment and safety supplies as needed.
• ordering and tracking first aid supplies.
• other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
• Ability to work independently.
• Detail Oriented.
• Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• The ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
• Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
• Proven ability to make independent judgments, decisive and confident.
• Demonstrated solid organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, be self-motivated and proactive.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current CPR / First Aid / AED certification
• Bilingual in Spanish
• Knowledgeable in Cal OSHA regulations

Physical Requirements:

• Moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 25% or more sitting, 75% or less walking, and 75% or more standing. The job is performed under moderate temperature variations and in n cannery environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 45 lbs. is required.
