Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Standing Stone is a well-established and growing landscape design/build company located in Chester VT, and we’re expanding our team. We provide a wide range of landscape and masonry services including landscape architecture, landscape installation general contracting, and excavation. However all our projects focus on custom stonework using traditional craftsmanship and building practices that last for generations. This includes restoration work and new construction.

We’re seeking an experienced and reliable individual to fill an open position for Office Manager/Bookkeeper. A great opportunity for the right candidate to join a stable growing company working on a wide array of projects. Our crew is highly skilled and everyone is focused on professionalism throughout their work. The crew size typically ranges from 6 to 16 people.

This position will entail all aspects of keeping the office of a small construction/building trades business running smoothly. This will include bookkeeping, client communications, payroll, project tracking, human resources, promotional work, and more.

The position is full-time (about 35 to 40 hours/week). Work hours are reasonably flexible. Most work can be done from home, but coming into the office for at least part of the day will be needed a few times a week on average.

The ideal candidate would have extensive experience in office management and bookkeeping for a construction or building trades company. Construction project management experience, or past construction experience would be a huge plus. We are looking for someone who can bring past experience to help improve our systems.

The starting compensation for this position is in the range of $30 - $40 per hour, based on experience, and range of skills. Benefits include, paid holidays, paid time off, and flex time.

Minimum Experience/Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of office management experience for a construction or building trades company.
  • At least 3 years experience with bookkeeping (Quickbooks, Xero etc).
  • Must be proficient with Apple operating systems (Mac computers and iPhones)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office (especially Excel), and Mac Pages, Sheets, Keynote, Photos, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Wordpress and websites would be an excellent additional skill.
  • Additional Experience in project management within a landscape, building, or construction trade will be viewed very favorably.
  • Additional Experience in a design field (Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Graphic design, etc will be viewed very favorably.
