St. Xavier High School, founded in 1831 and the oldest high school in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an all-male Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The successful St. Xavier teacher is dedicated to developing the whole person in academics, religious growth, and service to others. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to Catholic education and a willingness to work with talented and motivated students and colleagues. The candidate should be capable of teaching Scriptures (freshman course), Faith, Church, and Sacraments (sophomore course), and Morality and Social Justice (junior course).
Qualifications: Practicing Catholic and active faith life.B.A. in Theology, Religious Studies, or related discipline Masters degree preferredMeets the requirements to be certified by the Archdiocese to teach religionKnowledge of Catholic teaching, particularly in the area of Sacramental and Moral theology.Understanding of the faith life of teenage boys.Ability to connect faith principles to real life experiences of high school students.Experience teaching high school religion is preferable, but not required.Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom Responsibilities: Communicate regularly with parents and administrators to ensure the success of each studentCollaborate with colleagues on Religion curriculum development and implementationCollaborate with colleagues on professional growth projectsWilling to be involved with activities outside the classroomFully participate in homeroom and the life of the schoolFulfill periodic substitution and prefecting responsibilities Please have the following key information ready: resume, cover letter, three references.
