Patrol parks to ensure safety by observing and educating park users on polices, rules and ordinances. Provide assistance at Special Events, and to patrons and staff when needed.
This position is well suited for an individual with a friendly and positive disposition, is productive and shows initiative, possesses effective written and oral communication skills, and is reliable and safety-oriented.
Required: A valid driver’s license and must be at least 18 years of age with the ability to recognize hazards and safety threats. Must be able to assess potentially volatile or unsafe situations and call 911 and supervisor when necessary. Must have or obtain CPR/AED/First Aid Certification and Mandated Reporter certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred: Preferred experience in overseeing grounds and facilities, working with the public, and special events. Will possess good knowledge of Park District policies, rules and regulations and become familiar with all St. Charles Park District parks and facilities.

Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks & Planning and the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities, the Park Safety Associate is responsible for promoting a safe environment in all parks and facilities. The Park Safety and Community Relations shall complete all assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position is will be seasonal as defined within the Park District’s Personnel Manual. Generally described, this position will average thirty hours per week on an annual basis.
