Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.

Currently recruiting for Yoga Instructor and Fitness Instructor:

Yin Yoga

Calm the mind and body with this soothing restorative Yoga class. Restorative yoga poses require no muscular exertion; each pose is held for several minutes and deeply supported by props such as bolsters and blocks. You will be guided to mindfully and consciously notice thoughts and sensations in your body. Leave class feeling nourished, well rested and refreshed with a new cultivated awareness and clarity. No experience needed. All skill levels welcome.

Lunch Express

Get in, do the work and zip back to work! This 45-minute express fitness HIIT training class is the perfect way to grab a full body workout in between meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality. Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact and productivity. General knowledge and understanding of proper exercise techniques and habits. The group fitness instructor must have the ability to effectively educate and demonstrate to participants these techniques and habits.

Required: Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent, professional certification required (i.e. ACE, AFAA). Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Prefer work experience in the fitness related field and previous experience instructing fitness activities

Essential Functions of the Position

Park District Cornerstones

• Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
• Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
• Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

Under the supervisor of the Superintendent of Recreation, and the Pottawatomie Community Center Supervisor/Volunteer Coordinator, the Adult Fitness Instructor shall complete all assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:

• Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow employees.
• Provide information and assistance to fellow staff members.
• Communicate orally.
• Operate sound equipment as needed.
• Utilize program materials.
• Coordinate fitness routines.
• Effectively demonstrate and teach fitness skills ranging from beginning to advanced skills.
• Follow all safety procedures that pertain to duties involved.
• Resolve problems with participants.
• Perform first aid, AED, and CPR and execute emergency procedures as necessary.

Marginal Functions of the Position

• Assist with special projects.
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
• Set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
