SPUDNIK EQUIPMENT COMPANY LLC is Hiring an Operations Manager Near Blackfoot, ID

Job Summary

The Operations Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight for specific area/department within our Fabrication department, namely warehouse inventory, material preparation, CNC laser cutting, press brake, sawing, and machine shop. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong personnel management skills, a focus on operational excellence, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Duties and Outcomes

  • Personnel Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of employees, including specific roles such as area leaders, machine operators, and production employees.
    • Conduct regular team meetings, set and review measurable performance goals, and implement training programs.
    • Champion a culture to enhance and inspire employee engagement.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Manage day-to-day operations in specific Fabrication department(s), ensuring adherence to production schedules and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Monitor and analyze key operational metrics, such as production output, downtime, and quality performance.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the budget for specific Fabrication department(s), including expenses, resources, and capital investments.
    • Implement cost-saving measures and maintain cost-effectiveness in operations.
    • Achieve financial goals related to production efficiency and cost control.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards.
    • Investigate and address any issues related to product quality.
    • Consistently drive and maintain a reduction in product defects.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Contribute to the development of strategic plans for specific Fabrication department(s), aligning operational goals with the overall objectives of the organization.
    • Achieve production schedules with developing improvements in operational efficiencies.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
    • Monitor and address customer feedback and concerns related to the specific Fabrication department(s).
    • Improve customer satisfaction by understanding their processes and needs.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • Lead company safety initiatives by reducing incidents and injuries while promoting good catches and following up on near misses.
  • Technology Implementation:
    • Stay informed about relevant technologies and tools in manufacturing.
    • Become a subject matter expert on processes and technologies in the industry.
    • Implement improvements to processes and operations, resulting in increased efficiency.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and review daily reports on key performance metrics, including production output, quality performance, financial results, production schedule and overtime.
    • Achieve and maintain an 85% direct labor applied rate.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other departments and areas to address cross-functional challenges and contribute to organizational initiatives.
    • Participate in cross-functional projects, achieving project goals and milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a managerial role within manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving operational and financial goals.
  • Familiarity with steel manufacturing processes and ASTM specifications.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies is highly desirable.
