This position will be responsible for making service calls to maintain and repair recycling and trash equipment throughout the Houston and surrounding areas. Equipment includes balers, tippers, winches, conveyors, shredders, densifiers, compactors and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install waste and recycling equipment – trash compactors, cardboard balers, densifiers, etc.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and clean as required.
• Diagnose technical problems and repair equipment in the field and/or shop.
• Document job orders and progress.
• Maintain the service vehicle.
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner.
• Serve as a mentor/trainer for junior service technicians.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
• Regularly lift 30 – 50 pounds.
• Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
• Possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
• Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane.
• Will be exposed to a physical environment involving dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
• Interact in a courteous manner with employees, customers and the public.
• Promote a culture of teamwork through positive communication and leading by example.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing waste and recycling equipment
• Experience as a road mechanic preferred
• Clean driving record
• Dependable and punctual
• Customer oriented
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics/drawings
• Experience with AC/DC electrical control and power circuits
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Experience in welding and sheet metal fabrication
• Able to enter and work in plants/refineries on any given workday
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
• Field service experience
