PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in vehicle inspections to ensure DOT requirements are met and take corrective measures when required.
• Diagnose mechanical problems
• Assign, supervise and participate in major and minor mechanical repairs on steering systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems and engines
• Determine priority of work orders and their assignment to personnel; plan, organize and schedule work flow of employees as assigned; advise and assist assigned personnel; assure timely completion of work.
• Maintain records and reports as necessary.
• Assist in the selection of new employees; train, supervise and evaluate assigned employees; recommend disciplinary action; review completed work and provide feedback as necessary
• Place requisition for materials and equipment; authorize purchases from local vendors; maintain adequate inventory of parts, equipment and supplies used in repairing and servicing motorized vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Mechanical or trade school certificate
• Industry knowledge and experience performing maintenance and diagnostics on diesel equipment
• Knowledgeable of air/brake systems
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Able to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, and on-call rotations for roadside assistance
• Operate and use of hand and power tools and equipment
• Fluent in English and Spanish preferred
