We are seeking a highly skilled Programmer/Developer II, Senior or Lead to join our IT Markets team. As key contributor you will: Play a crucial role in maintaining the mission critical applications utilized by SPP's System Operations team for overseeing the bulk electric grid and wholesale power markets within SPP's footprint. As a Programmer/Developer within this team, your primary responsibilities will involve optimizing the performance and efficiency of the applications and processes. You will work closely with other subject matter experts across the IT department to identify and implement technical solutions to various challenges. Specifically, your tasks will include providing support for the real-time Market Operating System and actively participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation. This ensures that you will be involved in maintaining the smooth functioning of these critical systems at all times. By collaborating effectively with your colleagues and leveraging your programming and development skills, you will contribute to the overall success of the IT Markets team and help ensure the reliable operation of SPP's essential systems. To be successful as the Programmer/Developer II, Senior or Lead, we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology-related field or equivalent job-related experience
Lead:Ten (10) years of applicable experience in Information Technology Development and/or Support related roles
Senior: Eight (8) years of applicable Information Technology development and support experience or equivalent combined experience in development/support and database management
Level II: Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience
Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
Expert in one or more modern programming languages
Expert troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills
Expert written and oral communication skills
Expert working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
Excellent customer service and organizational skills
Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
Five (5) or more years applicable utility industry experience
Comprehensive understanding of SPP's core business model
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required
Travel Requirement:
This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%)
