Payroll Practitioner II

Job Description

This is a full-time position with typical business work hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, some over-time may be required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. As the Payroll Practitioner II, you will be expected to demonstrate a sense of urgency, willingness to work closely with others, and be part of the team. This is a non-exempt position.

Purpose:

The Payroll Practitioner II assists in the management of all payroll functions. Specifically, this position is responsible for processing payroll, managing the time and attendance system, and responding to payroll related needs and inquiries.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Assists in maintaining and processing semi-monthly payrolls including hourly, salaried, and commissioned team members in a multi-state environment.
  • Reviews and manages the time and attendance system for all team members to ensure accuracy.
  • Provides customer service to team members and managers for various payroll related needs.
  • Processes and assists with monthly commission payments and calculations.
  • Researches and resolves payroll and payroll tax-related issues.
  • Updates employee tax and direct deposit info as requested.
  • Process garnishments, bankruptcies and tax liens.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting as required by government agencies.
  • Ability to take notes and follow instructions.
  • Maintains payroll files in accordance with Company policy, as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 year’s work experience in a payroll environment required; 5 years’ work experience preferred.
  • ADP experience is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advance computer proficiency skills with MS Office, Excel; word processing programs including but not limited to vlookups and sumif formulas.
  • Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills; written and oral communication skills and ability to demonstrate control, flexibility and maintain quality and high productivity when dealing with vendors and changing work demand. Effective listening communications skills.
  • Demonstrate good attention to detail and high level of accuracy, good judgment showing logical decision making, good analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach, and very effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
