About the Role 

Spiegelworld is looking for a Director of People to join the team at the Headquarters Office in Las Vegas. This position will partner with leadership to provide solutions to employee-related matters, maintaining a balance between being a strategic business partner and employee champion. This role encompasses overseeing all aspects of people operations, including but not limited to, benefit administration, employee relations, coaching, talent management, labor relations, HRIS system management, workforce planning, employee engagement, payroll, HR compliance, and administration of company policies and practices.

The Director will work closely with company leaders and the People team to ensure seamless operations that prioritize hospitality, transparency, and service excellence for team members. Candidates for this position should be innovative, solution-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and be able to engage with colleagues across all levels, locations, and functions. This is an ideal role for a positive self-starter who can think strategically about big picture business goals as well as tactically execute a full range of People initiatives. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position will be based in Las Vegas, Nevada with some anticipated travel.

Responsibilities 

  • Work with leadership teams to proactively identify organizational needs and develop strategies to help scale and drive high performance culture.
  • Effectively lead and manage the People team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment while actively supporting their professional development.
  • Promoting a positive employee experience by providing excellent customer service and communicating transparently with all levels of the organization.
  • Write, implement and administer company policies and practices with a focus on balancing business objectives, company needs, labor laws, and cultural ambitions.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers and People team on performance management and employee development; this includes reviewing coaching documents and participating in disciplinary meetings.
  • Design and manage benefit, time off, and perk programs ensuring they are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with our business goals and employee needs. Own broker and vendor relationships.
  • Work with the leadership teams on workforce planning and recruitment for new and existing businesses. 
  • Maintain productive relationships with union leaders, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with CBAs.
  • Develop and implement performance and talent management programs to support employee growth and skill enhancement.
  • Act as a Super Admin and problem solver for the HRIS system (UKG) this includes recruiting, learning, benefits, onboarding and talent platforms. Monitor EDI connections into vendor systems.
  • Champion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) initiatives, developing programs and policies that promote a diverse and inclusive workplace, and helping us maintain a safe and welcoming workspace.
  • Collaborate with people leaders and cross functional teams to brainstorm, contribute insights, and share perspectives as policies, processes and practices are developed. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve People processes, programs and offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and city laws, guidelines or ordinance for all personnel matters. This includes separations, employee relations, benefit administration, leaves, and accommodations. 
  • Prepare analysis and reports with an attention on accuracy and driving decision making.
  • Other related People duties as requested by your manager.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree; SHRM certification preferred.
  • 8 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role; entertainment and/or hospitality industry experience a plus
  • Customer-centric mindset with a passion for serving employees and promoting a positive work culture.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage shifting priorities to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Experience working in an environment with multiple union contracts
  • Thrives working in a dynamic, fast paced, ever changing organization; working within a company that has multiple business entities is a plus.
  • Experience with a wide range of HR, critical thinking and business advisory skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence others into action and to think creatively about solutions.
  • Genuine curiosity and strong desire to continuously learn and grow and develop.
  • Acts with integrity and always maintains confidentiality.
  • Strong in communicating with others and builds strong relationships with leaders and employees.
  • Good judgment and ability to balance the needs of the company and employees.
  • Proven track record of strategic HR leadership and business partnership.
  • Strong understanding of labor laws, regulations, and best practices. Experience working for a multi state employer (NV, NY, NJ) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups of up to 80 and engaging with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and excellence.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Apps, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and various HR/database systems. Experience with UKG is a plus.
  • Must have valid work authorization for the US.
