Sperber Landscape Companies is Hiring a Business Developer Near Sterling, VA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic-minded Business Developer to join our landscaping business. As a Business Developer, you will be responsible for driving business growth, expanding our client base, and identifying new market opportunities. You will work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement strategies that enhance our competitive position and contribute to the overall success of the company.

Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development Strategy:
    • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, market trends, and competitive landscape.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and achieve revenue targets.
    • Identify new market segments, niches, or geographic areas for expansion.
    • Collaborate with the management team to define business goals, objectives, and strategies.
    • Understanding the business sales plan.
    • Laison between Customer Scope of Work, Map, Budgetary information for Customer to Business Leadership for Estimate, Action Plan, Notes on presentation.
  2. Lead Generation and Conversion:
    • Identify and engage with prospective clients through various channels, such as cold calling, networking, and referrals.
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of leads, tracking progress and follow-up actions.
    • Conduct initial client meetings, presentations, and proposals to showcase our services and capabilities.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to convert leads into clients and achieve sales targets.
    • Aligning with the account manager staff to understand where opportunities present themselves.
  3. Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop and nurture strong relationships with existing clients to maximize client satisfaction and retention.
    • Conduct regular client meetings to understand their needs, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
    • Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests in a prompt and professional manner.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing industry insights and recommendations.
    • Networking, canvassing territory, hunting for opportunity.
  4. Market and Competitive Analysis:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
    • Monitor changes in client needs and preferences, adapting business development strategies accordingly.
    • Conduct competitor analysis to identify areas of differentiation and develop unique selling propositions.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on market research and analysis.
  5. Proposal Development and Negotiation:
    • Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to develop compelling proposals and presentations.
    • Customize proposals to align with client requirements and showcase our competitive advantage.
    • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and service agreements to maximize profitability and client satisfaction.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project handoff and successful implementation.
  6. Relationship Building and Networking:
    • Attending industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build relationships and generate leads.
    • Participate in networking events and professional associations to expand professional connections.
    • Represent the company in a professional and positive manner, promoting our brand and services.
    • Collaborate with marketing team to develop promotional materials and targeted marketing campaigns.
  7. Utilization of Systems:
    • Aspire for all CRM tracking, as well as training and development programs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3 years) in business development or sales, preferably in the landscaping or related industry.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical abilities to identify market opportunities and develop effective strategies.
  • Solid understanding of landscaping principles, materials, and practices.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
