Your Role
SAS’ Engineering team is critical to executing our missions. As a CAD Technical Designer II, you will play a critical role and significantly impact the company and industry. The SAS team is currently working to progress through fluids and propulsion system development. Our expertise is being used to complete detailed designs, produce drawings, and execute the release process to successfully complete Liquids and Instrumentation & Routed Systems drawings for several advanced spacecraft. 
Your role will be to provide technical expertise in CAD design to develop and release drawings in our Fluids & Propulsion product teams. Drawings shall include tubing, caps, sumps, panels, fluid lines, and vent lines for the liquids and instrumentation & routed systems sub-teams. Tasks associated with the design of each of these components include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Complete drawings rated for space flight by employing the following standards:
    • Design level of fidelity. Designs shall be complete and unambiguous to interpretation.
    • Implement Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Standard notes, including assembly instructions and processes required for completing and inspecting the installation.
    • Proper metadata, including configuration control and other relevant information and artifacts.
    • Drawing organization. Views should be organized and scaled to fit the drawing appropriately
  • Incorporate comments from peer review (if needed)
  • Shepherd drawing through approval and release process
  • Make changes/updates to CAD parts based on peer review feedback and design changes.
  • Review drawings generated by other designers for accuracy and proper GD&T
  • Deliver weekly progress report presentations
To qualify specifically for this role, we require candidates to have the following:
  • Requires Bachelors Degree in Fluids/Propulsion design and development, preferably in an Aerospace/Defense related program
  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience with CAD experience using Creo developing .prt, .asm., and .dwg formats
  • Must have experience using PTC Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Experience performing CDM activities in an aerospace/defense-related program is preferred
Specific CAD design experience in:
  • Instrumentation & Routed Systems, including Tubing and General Sensors and/or 
  • Systems CAD Models and Drawings for machined parts for Caps, Sumps, Panels, Fluid Lines, Vent Lines
  • Experience with Windchill is required
  • Experience with Jira is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency using MS Office and Windows operating systems is required. 
  • Experience with web browsers and email applications in an inter/intranet environment is recommended

The annual salary for this role is $73,296.80.00 to $109,945.20. Compensation depends on the candidate’s work experience, education/training, and related skills.
