POSITION SUMMARY

Performs difficult technical and responsible administrative; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of IT and GIS.

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Maintains spreadsheets and information related to software licenses.
  • Manages billing for maintenance agreements and telecom accounts.
  • Answers department phone calls
  • Works with vendors to obtain quotes.
  • Participates in on-call rotation.
  • Uses the County's financial software for various tasks including employee expense claims, requisitions, purchase order items, and invoices.
  • Utilizes the County's HR/Payroll software for departmental time entry and personnel actions.
  • Receives departmental inquiries and service requests, resolving them within established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares, maintains, and processes various reports, forms, and letters.
  • Prepares status reports on work to be completed.
  • Operates standard office, word, and data processing equipment.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of current IT trends and terminology. Thorough knowledge of billing or collection programs, policies, and procedures; thorough knowledge of routine accounting principles and practices; thorough knowledge of standard office methods and procedures, business English, spelling, and arithmetic; ability to make decisions relating to assigned operations in conformance with applicable laws and policies; ability to operate standard office and data entry equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other departments and the general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in office operations.
  • Previous experience in IT office or help desk environment preferred.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • All regular full-time and part-time employees of Spartanburg County are required by state law to participate in the South Carolina Retirement System.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued in the state of South Carolina.

Longevity pay increase after 18 months of employment (new hires)

Pay: From $47,911.00 per hour
