POSITION TITLE: Sales Attendant

REPORTS TO: Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal, or Full-Time (as applicable)

OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager, the Sales Attendant is responsible for handling and care of inventory, assisting customers and keeping the area clean. Other duties will be as directed by the Retail Manager or Department Head.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Reports to work on a timely and regular basis
• Provides assistance with product care and merchandising
• Maintains quality of nursery stock by watering, pruning and fertilizing
• Initiates the cleaning of the assigned area to facilitate pleasant and safe conditions
• Acts under the direction of the Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager to accomplish any needs of the company, i.e. organizing or stocking inventory, signing merchandise, etc.
• Initiates the gathering of goods promptly and courteously, as requested by Sales Persons and customers
• Assists customers in locating merchandise
• Retains pleasant attitude to enhance sales and encourage return business
• Wears designated Southwood logo uniform to maintain respectable appearance
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates or higher degree in Horticulture or related field, OR
• One to two years retail and horticulture experience (preferred), AND
• Is available and willing to work weekends (required), AND
• Combination of education and/or experience will be considered

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Performs work outdoors during all types of weather and temperature conditions

• Is aware of normal work hazards and exposure to fertilizers and pesticides
• Performs work while standing or walking the majority of the time
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. repeatedly for handling of merchandise
