Southwood Landscape & Garden Center is Hiring a Bedding Plant Attendant Near Tulsa, OK

POSITION TITLE: Bedding Plant Attendant

REPORTS TO: Bedding Plant Section Leader

CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal/Full-Time

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the Bedding Plant Section Leader, the Bedding Plant Attendant is responsible for the handling and care of the annual bedding plants, herbs and vegetables. Other duties will be as directed by the Retail Operations Manager in Section Leader’s absence.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintains quality of bedding plant and other annual stock by watering, pruning and fertilizing
  • Initiates the cleaning of the nursery yard to facilitate pleasant and safe conditions.
  • Acts under the direction of the Bedding Plant Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager to accomplish any needs of the company, i.e. organizing and stocking plants, signing merchandise, etc.
  • Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Assists customers in locating plants and other merchandise.
  • Initiates the gathering of goods promptly and courteously, as requested by Sales Persons and customers.
  • Retains pleasant attitude to enhance sales and encourage return business.
  • Wears designated Southwood logo uniform to maintain respectable appearance.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED AND
  • One to two years retail and horticulture experience or basic plant knowledge


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Performs work outdoors during all types of weather and temperature conditions
  • Is aware of normal work hazards and exposure to fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Performs work while standing or walking the majority of the time
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. repeatedly for handling of merchandise
