Southwestern Community Services is Hiring a WIC Nutritionist Near Keene, NH

Reports to: WIC Program Director and WIC Nutrition Coordinator

Classification: Non-exempt

Job Summary:

The WIC Nutritionist provides nutrition education and assessment to all WIC participants. The WIC Nutritionist

ensures availability and accessibility of WIC program benefits to current and prospective participant. The WIC

Nutritionist develops nutrition education and outreach materials for use by the WIC Program.

Essential Functions:

  • Determines participant eligibility for WIC program services in accordance with Agency, State and Federal
guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Formulates and implements the nutrition care plans for individual participants of the WIC program
utilizing Value Enhanced Nutrition Services, Getting to the Heart of the Matter framework and Participant

Centered Education.

  • Provides nutrition counseling to pregnant, postpartum women, infants and children participating in the
WIC program in accordance with Federal and State guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Completes and maintains required nutrition education documentation, referrals and other program data
as required by the State contract in the StarLINC computer system.
  • Provides Required nutrition education contacts to high priority WIC participants according to state and
frederal policies and procedures.
  • Completes intake procedures, anthropometrics and blood work in accordance with state and frederal
program guidance and regulations.
  • Formulates and implements the nutrition care plans for individual participants of WIC.
  • Assists with the design, implementation and evaluation of the program nutrition objectives established

annually for the state workplan.

  • Participates in the quality improvement activities including completing reviews on participant records and
programmatic requirements to ensure compliance with state and frederal guidelines; makes effort to

correct all quality improvement findings.

  • Refers participants to apppropiate health and social service resources as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state and agency policies and procedures and current nutrition

developments and findings effecting women, and children.

  • Assist in other components of the Program as requested.

use of written correspondences.
  • Listening Skills: Ability to assimilate spoken messages by being attentive and by using skills to understand
the meaning behind a speaker’s words.
  • Persuasion: Able to provide compelling evidence that ultimately influences the outcomes of decisions.
  • Detail Orientation: Produces high quality work with few errors by being aware of and paying attention to

the many pieces that make up the “whole” of a task.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition Sciences.
  • Eligibility for Registered Dietitian is preferred, or Registered Dietitian.
  • Experience in community nutrition or other health services involving women, infants and children.
  • Advanced study in nutrition science or public health coursework.
  • Must have valid driver's license, meet insurance requirements, have reliable transportation and be able to

travel to all sites.

  • This job can be physically demanding and requires bending, lifting and twisting.
