Job Description:

This Sr Network Operations Planning (NOP) Post Ops Analytics Consultant supports our Purpose by working collaboratively with Leaders and Teams within Southwest's Network Operations Control (NOC) to gather insights, tell a cohesive story of an operational disruption, and offer analysis to support decision-making. The NOP Team is a new Team aiming to refine decision-making processes, with this role primarily focusing on the Teams and operations within our NOC. This Sr NOP Post Ops Analytics Consultant is excited to step into this new space, have the opportunity to learn and develop their expertise each day, and help pilot the future of Southwest Airlines.

Job Summary

  • Provide advanced-level analytical and business consulting support to internal Customers. Lead analyses and initiatives of critical scope/impact, develop visualizations, and create complex data models to provide decision support Coordinate efforts between various Leaders/departments, providing guidance and support through implementation of change. Facilitate Post Ops Analytics sessions, ensuring all materials are developed to tell a compelling story that explains the analysis and supports the recommendation.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with the Post Ops Analytics Leader to align on analytical requests, expectations, and priorities, ensuring analyses are aligned with overarching Team and enterprise goals
  • Provide analytical support and expertise to Customers and partners intra/inter-departmentally, quickly discerning relevant dependencies and providing the path(s) to resolution
  • Perform descriptive and diagnostic analyses of operational events on an ad hoc basis while simultaneously managing long-term projects
  • Act as a business strategy/project advisor for any analyses occurring retroactively, responsible for framing analysis, recommendations, and delivery
  • Facilitate Post Ops Analytics strategic discussions with Leaders and project Stakeholders
  • Ensure timely development of Post Ops Analytics reports and agenda, leading discussions at Post Ops Analytics Sessions
  • Collaborate with Daily Ops Analyst partners to gather qualitative anecdotes, aiming to provide additional context on decision making and quantitative analyses
  • Collaborate with other operations Teams and stakeholders to develop overarching project timelines to ensure implementation of next steps and action items coming out of Post Ops Analytics sessions
  • Collaborate with Post Ops Team members to track and report measures of success
  • Responsible for collating and reporting Post-Ops Team success stories, collaborates with Analytical Manager and Communications Teams to ensure broad delivery across the enterprise as needed
  • Work with Post Ops Analytics Associate Consultants, to provide operational expertise, technical expertise, and ensure that analyses are focused on broader Team goals
  • Build strong relationships with Network Operations Control, adjacent Operations Teams, and support departments to ensure constant sharing of knowledge and lessons learned
  • Act as a thought leader and serve as a trusted advisor to the Manager, Post Ops Analytics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of strategic and financial analysis and proven analytical and quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, product planning, prioritization, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of aviation operations, terms, and metrics
  • Knowledge of analytical technology systems and related theory, practice and concepts
  • Skilled in data analysis and visualizing data to drive insights using tools such as think-cell, Excel, Tableau, etc
  • Skilled in synthesizing complex information, conveying this in well-written PowerPoint presentations and presenting to stakeholder
  • Skilled in SQL and Excel
  • Skilled in Alteryx or other data manipulation tools, and Tableau or other data visualization software
  • Ability to quickly identify a path forward when tasked with complex analytical problems, including data cleansing/prep work
  • Ability to think like an owner. Demonstrates a high level of responsibility and provides direction in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to self-start and work autonomously, with limited and disparate information
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees up to and including executive levels
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships, communicate in an effective manner, and lead through influence at all levels within an organization
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively with the Team
  • Ability to coach and mentor others on area of expertise
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a high regard for confidential and sensitive information
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading

  • Expert-level knowledge and experience in:

    • Driving complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders at all levels

    • Breaking down and solving ambiguous problems through quantitative and qualitative analysis

    • Developing clear and well-written PowerPoint presentations that synthesize approach, insights, and recommendations, requiring minimal oversight

    • Identifying opportunities for innovation and growth by analyzing market trends, competitive landscape, and industry best practices

    • Providing strategic guidance and thought leadership to senior leaders

    • Mentoring junior employees in their professional development

    • Running and/or overseeing complex analysis using SQL, Alteryx, and/or Tableau

    • Developing strategies, plans, and identifying critical decision points, communicating them to executive leadership

  • Preferred: Experience in SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, and PowerPoint

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $124,550 per year to $138,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
