Description

The Branch Manager is responsible for growing deposits for the office by effectively and efficiently supervising the customer servicing staff to provide excellent service to the Bank’s customers.

Listing of Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the overall operation of the Branch.
  2. Has overall responsibility for all branch staff including the Lead CSR and other CSRs.
  3. Ensures that all staff members are trained on and understand the importance of: (a) applicable policies, procedures and processes related to the branch’s operation, including Bank Teller Standards; (b) BSA and other compliance requirements; and (c) safety procedures when robbery attempts, bomb threats, etc. occur.
  4. Ensures that all dual control procedures required to maintain internal controls are being properly followed by the personnel under his or her responsibility as well as himself or herself.
  5. Greets clients or potential clients warmly and positively when they enter the Branch.
  6. Provides service to customers to quickly resolve account problems and respond to requests.
  7. Calls on current and potential clients in the branch’s market area to generate more deposits for the Bank.
  8. Takes applications for personal consumer loans (auto, boat, etc.), equity lines and credit cards, as well as business/professional loans, and refers a Loan Officer as appropriate. Depending on experience level and training, the Branch Manager may have an established lending authority.
  9. Authorizes transactions including deposits and check cashing in accordance with Bank policies.
  10. Makes decisions related to NSFs/overdrafts and related fees in accordance with Bank policies.
  11. Ensures that a CSR (or CSRs) is (are) trained to process all products or services offered by the Bank.
  12. Ensures that CSRs are provided the opportunity to cross train on new accounts and loan support in order to improve the strength and flexibility of the branch and to give the CSRs more pay potential.
  13. Conducts employee performance appraisals and recommends base salary increases to Senior Management.
  14. Provides coaching, recognition, motivation, and skill development to staff members on a consistent and daily basis.
  15. Coordinates interviews with potential new hires.
  16. Represents the Bank in his or her assigned market area for both business development and goodwill purposes by becoming involved in the civic, cultural, charitable and/or educational activities of the community
  17. Serves as the County Office liaison with the Corporate HR function.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education Required: HS Degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field preferred. ABA or BAI retail banking and consumer lending training courses would be helpful. Supervisory skills class also would be helpful.

Experience Required: 7 years of experience in a retail banking branch environment, with at least 4 years in a Branch Manager role.

Knowledge and Skills Required: Sound people management, organization and communication (written and verbal) and multi-tasking skills. Sound analytical, customer service and business development skills to assist in identifying customers’ specific needs, and closing the sale of the appropriate services. P/C skills for communication, analytical and reporting purposes.

Key Business Relationships: Interacts internally with the County President, Loan Officers, Birmingham Branch and loan support staff and centralized Loan and Deposit Operations staffs, and externally with existing and potential Bank customers.

Also, such information never should be released to a third party without the specific authorization of a Senior Manager.
