- Performs job with little or no direction and supervision
- Greets patients and their families with a friendly attitude implementing all Patient Experience protocols
- Responsible for patient’s right to privacy and maintaining confidentiality
- Duties require interaction with different patient age groups, i.e. adolescents, adults, and the elderly, and requires understanding that different age groups have specific needs that require specialized attention or care
- Operates computer regularly and enters information. Must master NextGen EPM/EMR and Soarian software
- Responsible for careful and accurate compiling and maintaining of demographic and insurance information on each patient registered at CVC or with SoutheastHEALTH Cardiac Imaging in NextGen EPM/EMR and Soarian
- Check in and check out patients for CVC and SoutheastHEALTH Cardiac Imaging scheduling future office appointments and coordinating referrals, i.e. GI, Sleep, Primary Care, Internal, Pulmonary, etc.
- Schedules and completes pre-registration and registration with Central Scheduling
- Responsible for calling patients to complete imaging pre-registration, schedule imaging testing date or give patient instructions (arrival time, NPO instructions, etc.)
- Responsible for obtaining signed consent (consent for treatment, responsible party, and assignment of insurance benefits)
- Responsible for point of service collection of co-pays and payments on accounts, and closing daily batches
- Assists nursing staff by performing clerical duties
- Assists in preparing and collecting data for daily operational reports and quality measures
- Orders and maintains necessary office supplies
- Answers multiple office phone lines promptly, courteously, and in a professional manner directing questions to the appropriate personnel without giving medical advice
- Answers external physician phone calls and routes to appropriate internal CVC Physician
- Receives phone calls from patients and physician offices for scheduling of tests and procedures
- Pages appropriate physicians for needed hospital services, i.e. consults, emergency room, transfers, STEMIs
- Participates in the training of new employees as needed
- Keeps current on changes in policy and procedures
- Handles business inquiries satisfactorily Any other duties as needed to drive to the Vision, fulfill the Mission, and abide by the Values of the organization
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year Experience in a hospital business office or clinic practice required
- Experience in a detail oriented or public contact work environment preferred
