South Middlesex Opportu is Hiring a Triage Service Coordinator Near Worcester, MA

SUMMARY Oversee coordination of all training for new staff and ongoing training for current staff. Model appropriate client/staff interactions, apply consistency in program implementation, ensuring the safety of clients/staff, and efficient fulfillment of assigned shift responsibilities. Manage inventory, coordinate with maintenance and assist Triage Services Manager as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and carry out onboarding of all new shelter staff ensuring participation in required internal and external trainings in a timely and organized manner.
  • Clearly communicate to all new and current staff through training and modeling that all guests are to be welcomed and engaged so that they receive appropriate services.
  • Through training, provide the resources and tools needed for all shelter staff to create a safe and respectful atmosphere within the program environment.
  • Ensure that all necessary tasks are carried out on each shift in support of program operations including safety and security protocols, meals, client storage, access to belongings, and general adherence to the program guidelines
  • Incorporate standardized training for staff on safety and security checks so that they are consistently performed including searching all who enter the building, searching belongings, and enforcing all rules.
  • Assist Triage Program Manager with ongoing program designs and quality management assurance, including the development of a standard training curriculum.
  • Provide feedback to management on staff participation and progress in the training curriculum.
  • Take an active and participatory role in directly relating to clients throughout the course of the shift in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility including light cleaning duties.
  • Access and review cameras when necessary.
  • Provide assistance in making and monitoring referrals daily as needed
  • Complete weekly updates of the Triage Roster, Banned list and Worker’s list.
  • Provide daily census to the Triage Services Manager, Assistant Director and Managing Director, including an accurate count of new clients and direct care services (meal/ beds).
  • Fill in for shift lead vacancies and/or emergencies
  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
  • Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of advanced education and 2 -3 3years experience in the Human Services Field, preferably with homeless individuals or individuals in recovery.
  • Strong understanding of program operations and protocols I 24 hour emergency residential settings.
  • Excellent conflict resoluction and engagement skills.
  • Skill with data base management, Microsoft products and willingness to learn program specific software.
  • Excellent communication and organizationsl skills.
  • Commitment to the mission of the GWHC and its target populations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Should be able to ascend and descend stairs.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

  • Directly reports to Triage Services Manager
  • Indirectly reports to Assistant Director, GWHC
  • Direct reports of this position are N/A.
  • Weekly schedule varies on program needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Triage Support and Training Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required..
