JOB SUMMARY:
Operate and maintain stationary diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery and equipment at a pumping station. Perform preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, travel screen and raw water intake, and trash rake. Participate in the overhauling of diesel engines working with and under the direction of the Supervisor. Assume supervisory responsibility when station is pumping around the clock and is in charge when Supervisor is not present. Assist in the training of Stationary Diesel Engine Operator/Mechanic. Other Duties as Assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and 4 years' experience in the operation, maintenance of diesel engines including one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Forklift Operations Certification (Required)
Rigging Certification (Required)
First Aid/CPR/AED (Required)
Florida Driver's License (Required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role. Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments. Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
Location: Big Cypress Basin Field Station, Naples
Hours of operation 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Thursday; Closed Friday.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol drug testing.
