South Bay Workforce Investment Board is Hiring a Career Services Coordinator - Disability Services Near Inglewood, CA

Description

The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (SBWIB, Inc.) is seeking a dependable Career Services Coordinator (CSC) – Disability Services to assist in meeting the daily requirements of our participants with disabilities. The ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental challenges, and physical limitations. They must demonstrate excellent time management and organizational abilities, capable of efficiently managing multiple tasks. Moreover, the candidate should uphold professionalism, ethical conduct, and exceptional customer service. Ultimately, this individual will play a key role in achieving specific goals and meeting the expectations of the position. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Career Services Center Manager or designee, the CSC - Disability Services incumbent’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide on-site and off-site coaching, counseling, and support to individuals with disabilities during paid work experiences, or to groups of individuals throughout their employment, in alignment with employer expectations and case manager recommendations.
  • Offer continuous service and case management to participants with disabilities across all assigned locations (South Bay Area).
  • Identify individuals with disabilities eligible for services (review documentation, conduct initial interviews), and create individualized accommodation plans communicated to appropriate program staff members.
  • Ensure participants receive necessary accommodations for accessibility as per documentation sent to program staff members.
  • Collaborate and consult with program staff on implementing accommodations in specific activities, learning environments, or prospective employment locations.
  • Consult with program partner organizations regarding accessibility issues and laws.
  • Stay updated on research and issues related to participants with disabilities.
  • Maintain records, databases, and statistics for participants with disabilities, including program and required accommodations.
  • Develop overall disability accommodations services planning, implementation, assessment, and quality improvement, emphasizing participants' development, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Develop and implement a series of ongoing workshops to assist participants and program staff regarding the provision of reasonable accommodations to qualified participants, including those with mental health conditions.
  • Work closely with program staff within the interactive process to ensure SBWIB Inc. provides all required accommodations inside and outside the assigned program or work location.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, special education, healthcare, social services or a related field;
  • Additional certifications or training in areas such as case management, disability support services, or counseling preferred; 
  • Three (3) years of previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities; or a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties. (Education may be substituted by experience on a year-for-year basis).
  • Valid California Driver's License, active vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of background and reference clearances and adherence to all safety protocols enforced by the Company, as listed under the working conditions below.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service and effectively collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds, opinions, and needs, while fostering positive working relationships.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the rights of clients, staff, and stakeholders, with a high level of discretion at all times.
  • Proven track record of excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines under pressure; 
  • A commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and resources related to disability services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Teams, etc. Ability to adapt to new technologies and platforms as needed. 

Working Conditions

  • Working in person and wearing protective equipment as needed (e.g. mask, gloves, etc.,), and following protective measures enforced by the Company, City, County, State, and/or Federal Authorities as it relates to current states of emergencies (e.g., pandemics) or the functions of this position. Note: Measures may change based on the level of safety concerns.
  • Employee may be required to spend the majority of the day walking, standing, or sitting at a desk, with some lifting and bending. Must have excellent time management skills, must be able to work well under stress, and meet deadlines.
  • Must also be able to travel to other locations for training, conferences, and/or meetings within or outside our local area and occasionally statewide in which such travel may last one (1) or more days - if/as necessary. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance are a must.

Salary & Benefits 

This is a full-time, nonexempt position (40 hours/week), generally with an hourly wage of $24.52 - $29.24/hr, commensurate with experience. Our Company offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, which includes 75% health cost reimbursement (for employee only), sick and vacation time, holidays and a competitive 401k plan. Employer is eligible for student loan forgiveness (PSLF). All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company’s health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period.
