Description
SBWIB, Inc. is in search of an accomplished and dynamic leader to take the helm as our Career Services Operations Director ("Operations Director"). This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of top-tier workforce development services to our community by providing strategic oversight of multiple One-Stop Centers across Carson, Gardena, Torrance, and Inglewood. The Operations Director will leverage their expertise to drive performance, efficiency, and effectiveness across the centers while fostering collaboration with staff, stakeholders, and partners to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Operations Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategic plans & initiatives to optimize the performance of the One Stop Centers and enhance operational efficiency to continuously meet the needs of job seekers and employers.
  • Provide visionary leadership and direction to staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Establish goals, objectives, and performance metrics for the centers and monitor progress toward achievement.
Operational Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of center operations, including program implementation, service delivery, resource allocation, and compliance.
  • Ensure that services provided align with funding requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the integration and use of technology, including database management systems, to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing workforce development programs and services.
  • Prepare regular reports on center performance, evaluating outcomes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Handle any issues or challenges that arise within the centers, providing timely and effective resolution.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that services meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Staff Development and Management:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff members, promoting professional growth and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in career services delivery.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as necessary to maintain high-performance standards.
Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, employers, educational institutions, and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with partners to identify workforce development needs, resources, and opportunities, and develop innovative solutions and best practices.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events to promote awareness of the One Stop Centers and build strategic partnerships.
Financial Management and Resource Allocation:
  • Assist with the development of budgets for One-Stop Centers, ensuring prudent financial management and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Monitor revenue streams, expenditures, and grant allocations to optimize resource allocation and maximize financial sustainability.
  • Identify potential funding sources, grants, and other opportunities to support the expansion and enhancement of center services.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Continuously evaluate and refine processes and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of career services operations.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences) required.**
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity within social service or a similar industry
  • At least 2-3 years of experience working specifically in workforce development and job training.
  • Proven ability to manage leadership and support staff effectively, including monitoring performance, setting goals, and reporting on metrics.
  • Masterful organization and leadership skills backed by previous professional success, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling positive collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds, opinions, and needs.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage operational processes, structures, and/or roles to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the capability to multitask efficiently.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Proficiency in database management and with relevant software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in MS Excel and Word.
  • Possession of reliable transportation with a valid California Driver's License and active vehicle insurance.
  • Successful completion of background and reference clearances.

Working Conditions

Employees may also be required to spend the majority of the day engaging in activities such as walking, standing, and sitting at a desk, with occasional lifting and bending. Excellent time management skills are essential, along with the ability to work well under stress and meet deadlines. Additionally, travel to other locations for trainings, conferences, and/or meetings within or outside our local area, and occasionally statewide, may be necessary.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position with a standard workweek of 40 hours. The starting annual salary range is $105,081.60 - $149,436.61/yr, commensurate with experience. Our company offers a comprehensive employee benefits package, including 75% health premium coverage (for employee only), sick and vacation time, holidays, and a competitive 401k plan. Employees are also eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Enrollment in the company's health benefits package is available after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period.
