Sound Transit is Hiring a Manager - Internal & Executive Communications Near Seattle, WA

In addition to compensation and benefits, you'll find that we provide work-life balance, opportunities for professional development and recognition from your colleagues.GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general direction, the Internal and Executive Communications Manager leads the development and implementation of internal communications plans and strategies, maintaining close alignment with agency business strategies and exercising strong initiative and leadership to support employees' productivity and engagement. Acts as the Department's key point of contact for internal customers and consults with clients to assess internal communications needs. Leads the agency's Executive Communications program, which directly supports the CEO and other leaders: developing communication strategies which create connections between senior leaders and the staff-at-large, including support for employee eventsand writing and editing a wide range of internal and external-facing communications. Leads planning and execution of agency-wide staff meetings. Builds and maintains strong collaborative relationships with the Executive Department, Human Resources, Civil Rights, Equity & Inclusion and other key departments to conceptualize, plan, and execute internal communications initiatives meet business needs. Acts as business owner for internal communications channels and protocols including the agency's internal website. Oversees, plans, and coordinates the work of assigned staff, with focus on strong team leadership and empowerment while maintaining high levels of collaboration, quality, and clarity on roles and responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Collaborates with and provides guidance to executive leadership and other internal partners in developing strategic communication plans.Manages strategy and implementation of agencywide email newsletters and other employee-facing communications.Leads Executive Communication function with responsibility to support the CEO and other senior leaders with both internal and external facing communications, including drafting emails, speaking notes and presentation materials.Acts as key point of contact for internal customers who seek to distribute information internally; conducts needs assessments and determines scope and scale of project needs; ensure appropriate assignments.Plans and produces Agency all-staff meetings leads planning meetings, writes communication plans, establishes deadlines and milestones, monitors progress, establishes goals, and provides reports.Acts as business owner for the agency's intranet and partners with technical team to ensure continuous improvement, works with internal content contributors to maintain value, quality and consistency.In close collaboration with key internal business partners, maintains strategic calendar of employee-facing communications aligned with external activities.Leads internal content strategy aligned to agency priorities and external milestones, ensures that content calendar is maintained.Plans, directs, and coordinates the work of assigned staff. Reviews work and provides constructive feedback, creative direction, and recommendations.Coaches, trains, and motivates assigned staff; coordinates and/or provides staff training. Manages employee relations, measures team members' performance, and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary. Provides advice and counsel and develops developmental work plans. Implements or recommends corrective actions, discipline, and termination procedures as needed.Maintains clear and up-to-date strategies and protocols for internal communications channels and practices.Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.Contributes to a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in alignment with Sound Transit's Equity & Inclusion Policy.It is the responsibility of all employees to follow the Agency safety rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to their assigned duties and responsibilities, which could include systems, operations, and/or other employees.It is the responsibility of all employees to integrate sustainability into everyday business practices.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or closely related field and five years of experience in internal/executive communications; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
