Pool Technician I – Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel

Position Summary:

The Pool Technician I will be responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs in the Waterpark to ensure quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety, and security standards are achieved and maintained as established by the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel. Although the Soaring Eagle Water Park & Hotel is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties outlined in Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Perform a wide variety of general maintenance repairs and services for the Waterpark.
  • Clean and maintain the Waterpark interior areas, to include the swimming pools, sauna, and hot tub along with other aspects of the Waterpark.
  • Maintain the sidewalks and sundeck including snow removal, shoveling, and salting.
  • Protect company assets by properly securing tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Report requests for major repairs to the Pool Operator and/or Director of Facilities in accordance with Waterpark & Hotel procedures.
  • Respond to guest requests for immediate repairs.
  • Perform work duties in accordance with SEWPH Safety and Security Policies & Procedures as well as in accordance with posted OSHA, HazMat, and Blood Borne Pathogen regulations.
  • Report and store lost and found items in accordance with SEWPH procedures.
  • Responds in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility required.
  • Responsible for all maintenance service requests, inspections and adjustments assigned by the Pool Operator and/or Director of Facilities.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Safety Hazards:

Standard: A significant portion of the workday is spent lifting, moving, climbing, crawling, and holding. Carrying and/or lifting items that weigh approximately 100 lbs. Pushing and/or pulling objects such as drums, chemicals, etc. that weigh approximately 300 lbs. occur at times. Reading and writing abilities are utilized in order to document or record all tasks completed, receive instructions for the day, or to read equipment repair manuals. Problem solving and reasoning abilities are utilized occasionally. This position requires observation of electrical problems. Mathematical abilities, including basic math, volume, weight, and percentages are utilized a significant portion of the time. Must work with chemical, deliveries, storage and handling, SDS sheets, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and lifting of chemicals and sand. May experience exposure to water and vaporized chemicals and blood-borne spills caused by illnesses or injuries.

Waterpark:Required to frequently walk, stand, sit, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to use hands to find, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, pool mechanical systems and may be exposed to wet and dry conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. May have to go under water in the pools to make repairs. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud in the waterpark facility. Hearing protection may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

· 18 years of age or older.
