Position: Part time MHT2
Reports to: Crisis Center Director
Wage: $16.00/hour

Description: We are looking for a kind and compassionate person to join the Listening Ear Crisis Center Hotline team. The Crisis Center Hotline is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to provide confidential phone services to residents of Isabella and Clare Counties. Crises center workers are known as Mental Health Technicians (MHT) and provide support to people who call on the phone as well as through online chat services.

There currently is a part-time weekend position open in the team for Mental Health Technician 2 (MHT2). MHT2s must be able to work independently and handle a variety of crisis calls. Listening Ear provides after hours crisis call services for many of our partners requiring MHT2s to professionally engage and respond to calls from all over Michigan. Hours for this position are from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm Saturday and Sunday, but other days and times may be made available or requested occasionally.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a safe and supportive environment for callers who may be struggling with an emotional crisis.
• Help callers seeking assistance for food, shelter, utility, and other basic needs.
• Responsible for responding to calls from various mental health agencies within Michigan.
• Direct internal transfers as needed.

Requirements:

• Education and/or experience working in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related human service field.
• High School Diploma
• Complete Listening Ear’s Mental Health Training
• Must pass all necessary training tests, and exams required by the State, any governmental agency, or the employer (training provided by Listening Ear)
