At Smokin J's BBQ we strive to make our customers feel like the luckiest people in San Diego. We do this by paying attention to the details. Our meats are slow-smoked and pulled or sliced to order and everything is made in-house from scratch. The attention to detail extends to the front of house where all our customers are greeted as friends and we create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.

We are looking for a positive, upbeat, fun, and personable individual to lead the team in our front of house.

The position we are hiring for will be Full-Time, 35-40 hours per week. At least two years of server experience is required and managerial experience is preferred.

We are looking for individuals that love talking with people, are organized, self-motivated, work clean, and have good driving records.

Managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Helping the friendly and welcoming culture of Smokin J’s thrive
• Ensuring that all cleaning and preparation lists are completed
• Being the expert with our POS system and the first point of contact if an issue arises
• Quickly becoming an expert in talking about BBQ and able to answer any questions from staff and customers.
• Being the lead in handling customer complaints/refund requests/miscellaneous issues
• Weekly cash count resolutions
• Secondary delivery caterer for all Delivery Set Up catering (involves delivering food and setting up a self-serve buffet line in a timely manner)

Other daily tasks include:

• Opening and/or closing the department
• Maintaining cleanliness of customer tables (bussing tables, restocking items)
• Making to-go cups for sauces, ketchup, and other condiments
• Answering general customer questions
• Taking phone and in-person orders
• Handling POS system and cash register

PAY: FOH manager makes $17/hour PLUS $6-$8/hour in tips!!! With tips, the hourly pay comes out to $23-$25/hour.
