Job Description:

We are looking for a System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs in a smooth, secure, and efficient manner. You will be working out of our R&D office located on the University of South Carolina campus, in Columbia, SC.

What you will be doing:

  • Install/maintain/upgrade VMware / vSphere environments
  • Implement and manage IT policies and procedures for usage between on-premise and cloud environments to balance business priorities with IT costs
  • Create and maintain internal technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Manage hardware and software purchase life cycle in local data center at Columbia and Greenville, SC
  • Monitor and manage updates of FNO (FlexNet Operations) production licensing servers
  • Manage company/office network such as AD and VPN/MFA and phone system (routing globally)
  • Purchase, setup, and manage IT accessories for employees or offices including but not limited to: Laptops, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Headset, Zoom Pro equipment, etc.
  • Manage IT Accounts such as G-suite, vSphere, Slack, Workplace, Zoom.
  • Provide technical support to employees when requested.

What you will bring:

  • Experience with both Windows and Linux (RHEL, SUSE) platforms
  • Experience with physical, virtual and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud in that priority order)
  • Administration-level certification from any of the major cloud vendors: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Possess attributes such as attention to detail, prompt communication, taking initiative and being organized
  • Overall IT industry experience of at least 3 years
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • Experience with any container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes or other container / orchestration systems) will be an advantage
  • Experience with managing interns and/or outsourcers will be an advantage
