Sinai Chicago is Hiring a MSH RESPIRATORY THERAPY MANAGER Near Chicago, IL

GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB:

  • Supervise the clinical operations of the Respiratory Care Department. Coordinate the services provided with other departments, hospital personnel, and medical staff to meet the needs of the patients of the Sinai Health System.
  • Provides direction for respiratory care staff pertaining to assigned work, scheduling, and assigned responsibilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: Directory MICU/CCU, Respiratory, Neurology, Sleep Lab, CTC
  • Provides Supervision to: Respiratory Care Department, Neurology, Sleep Lab, CTC

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Interprets and implements Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures. Specific areas of concern are: Infection control, universal precautions, safety, disaster, Code Blue, Dr. Red, and the Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements
  • Prepares work schedules to ensure that the required number and skill complement is achieved. Adjusts staffing levels to meet the service requests of the department in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Responsible for timely completion of employee annual evaluations, staff meetings to be held monthly, quality assurance activities, investigation of incident reports and customer service complaints.
  • Participates in the interviewing and evaluation of candidates being considered for employment or promotion.
  • Develops and maintains open lines of communication with staff, physicians, nurses, and all other departments. Maintains an environment that will stimulate and motivate employees to perform at their highest level.
  • Monitors productivity and audits quality of work performed by staff members.
  • Assists the Director in budget preparation and policy and procedure manual review.
  • Evaluates new equipment in conjunction with the Resource Coordinators and Director.
  • Coordinates inventories, maintenance and repair of equipment, and proper equipment decontamination procedures.
  • Manages equipment rentals in a cost-effective manner.
  • Provides direct clinical services to patients throughout all clinical areas.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper procedures for all blood gas laboratory procedures. Able to train subordinates when necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of clinical respiratory care procedures for Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care, Surgical Intensive Care, Emergency Care, Trauma Care and acute respiratory care.
  • Able to train subordinates when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, sharp objects and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • A Bachelors Degree is preferred.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills are required.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Must be licensed by the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
  • Must be certified as a Perinatal-Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist by the NBRC within one year of employment.
  • BLS and NRP certification is required.
