Summary
This is a working leadership position rather than a position that would be able to function strictly from an office. It is expected that the Manager will frequently be working alongside other members of the department on the very same tasks. The Materials Manager will oversee the planning, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. This position will also oversee the receipt, verification, and stocking of incoming materials, as well as inventory control.
Requirements:
· Minimum 4 years education and/or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree
· Minimum 2 years in a manager role in a warehouse or similar environment
· Minimum 2 years in process development and improvement
· Experience in a manufacturing environment or similar
· Strong computer skills including use of MS Office, and ability to develop efficiency with proprietary Epicor software
· Proficient with inventory management
· Problem solving skills and ability to work effectively under deadlines
· Ability to work and communicate across various departments and positions within the organization
· Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats
· Ability to identify (through both observation and conversation) key requirements needed to streamline processes
· Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform the duties required to produce work in the department, typically this includes the ability to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times. Must be able to stand, bend or work in various positions.
Duties:
· Supervise materials department and personnel – Material Control and Warehouse
· Manages and monitors the storage of purchased and fabricated parts
· Monitors inventory volume and parts needed for production team
· Ensure materials are delivered to the production floor on time to complete schedule
· Research re-occurring parts issues and develop solutions
· Works with purchasing department to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment
· Oversees receiving functions related to purchased parts
· Reviews and monitors inventory quantities in ERP system for accuracy
· Utilizing ERP system, and other organizational tools with proper execution
· Training, coaching, motivating and leading others
· Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
· Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory
· Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory
· Must comply personally and lead others to abide by all safety, and company policy regulations; a thorough understanding and familiarity with all Simplex policies, and procedures – both written, and unwritten – is imperative, and expected.
· Maintain clean and orderly work areas within department; this responsibility is coordinated with the Management Team
· Must ensure that the treatment of all members within the department is fair and equitable; respectful, allowing no room for discrimination of any kind and in line with all appropriate company policies and laws
· Must adhere to all Simplex policies and be dedicated to being on the job whenever the crew is scheduled to be working
