Job Title: Data Scientist II

Job Description: SimIS seeks a Data Scientist II to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Unified Platform program office (UP). AFLMC/UP is responsible for developing and sustaining a cloud-based platform that enables cyber operations across the Department of Defense (DoD). UP provides USCYBERCOM Operational Forces a Joint cyber operations infrastructure enabling full spectrum cyberspace operations at the operational through tactical levels of warfare as part of USCYBERCOM’s Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture (JCWA). The Data Scientist II applies standard business and data manipulation principles and methods to technical problems to arrive at automated solutions.
Duty Requirements:
Supports cloud-based big data design and development requirements for software prototypes, systems, and applications.
Provides cloud-based solutioning for internal R&D efforts to develop software prototypes and technical documentation, evaluate R&D prototypes and technical documents, support technical communities of practice (e.g., xAPI communities), develop cloud-based software technical documentation, specifications, and user guides.
Develops and evaluates data requirements, perform data analysis on large data sets, translate raw data into usable knowledge and information, and provide expertise on creating usable data constructs.
implements data models and develops database to support the business cloud solutions identifies trends and analyzes cloud-base requirements and solutions through complex big data analysis.
Establishes, plans and provides recommendations for implementation of cloud solutions for data set design, implementation, and analysis.
Interprets results from multiple sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently; designs, develops and implements the most valuable business cloud solutions for the organization.
Experience Required:
Master’s Degree in Information Technology, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
10 years’ experience in designing, developing, and maintaining big data platforms/fabrics (Petabyte scale)
5 years’ experience executing Data Operations for big data applications.
Coding knowledge/experience: Java, JavaScript, C, C , etc.
A Data Science Professional Certificate is highly desirable.
Special Skills/Knowledge/Training Required/Desired:
Prior experience working USCYBERCOM and or USAF Cyber is desired but not required.
Contract Specific Requirements:
Upon award, the contract will have a period of performance of a 12 month base year with 2 twelve month options for a total of 36 months.
