SILOAM SPRINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT is Hiring a Middle School Health & Physical Education Teacher with coaching assignments-Middle School Football Near Siloam Springs, AR

POSITION TITLE: Middle School Health and Physical Education Teacher with coaching assignments Middle School Football.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of

Education and Arkansas Activities Association for both positions

REPORTS TO: Principal, assistant principals, Athletic Director and/or Head Coaches

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs

School Board policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work collaboratively with the content team (Professional Learning Community) and grade level interdisciplinary team.
  2. Implement a variety of effective, research based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards.
  3. Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests.
  4. Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested.
  5. Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners, re-teaching when needed and extending learning for others.
  6. Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers, as well as student to student, while using effective procedures to support all learners.
  7. Refer students, as needed, for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc.).
  8. Effectively implement district initiatives.
  9. Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures and resources.
  10. Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations.

ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:

  1. Display loyalty to the head coach, principal, athletic director and the Athletic Department.
  2. Supervise athletes and team assigned to him/ her.
  3. Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night, parent meeting, community service, etc.).
  4. Make suggestions and recommendations that will help the program.
  5. Teach and model good sportsmanship towards opponents, officials and parents.
  6. Support and collaborate with staff in other athletic and academic programs to encourage students to participate in a variety of activities. 
  7. Follow rules and regulations in the Siloam Springs Athletic Department, Coaches and AAA Handbooks.
  8. Monitor the academic performance of team members.
  9. Help plan and conduct daily practices for the assigned team.
  10. Attend pre-season organizational meetings as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  11. Assist in organizing and running of invitational or AAA tournaments and regular season meets.
  12. Attend professional development activities and remain current to new coaching strategies.
  13. Attend all interscholastic contests for the assigned team (if an emergency or situation arises that would necessitate the absence of a coach, the athletic director must be notified as soon as the situation is known).
  14. Other job responsibilities to be identified upon agreement of coaching assignments.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education and coaching. 
  7. Other duties as assigned.
