Both building-level and district-level administrator experience is preferred.

Evaluator Assistant Superintendent
Job GoalThe Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Federal Programs manages and directs all functions related to the daily operation of the district wide testing program for all students, providing a comprehensive vision of assessment for the district. Responsible for the compilation and reporting of district-wide student achievement data and oversees the adherence to all state and federal guidelines related to testing.
Specific Job Duties/RequirementsAssessment & Accountability
  • Directs and manages the district-wide testing program for all students in collaboration with the DTC
  • Conducts training on assessment systems and the interpretation of the results.
  • Analyzes district and school level achievement data.
  • Provides support in identifying data trends and formulating plans of action to yield improved student performance.
  • Prepares detailed reports and communicates information (written and oral) to school leaders, board members, and the public.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal guidelines and district policies as they relate to testing, assessment, and accountability.
  • Administer and/or support the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
  • Supervise assigned personnel (SMS Coordinator), provide assistance, conduct performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment actions
  • Coordinate, plan, implement, evaluate, and track professional development
  • Ensures that assigned student information systems meet legal data confidentiality, audit, and archiving requirements.
  • Provide stakeholders with valuable data and information for the purpose of informing instructional practices and promoting high levels of student achievement
  • Complete assessment calendar for the district
  • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, school leaders on educational trends, school-based testing coordinators on the requirements of the state assessment program and the state and federal accountability programs
Federal Programs
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating all programs served with federal funds.
  • Work with appropriate staff to develop title budgets and regularly monitor title expenditures throughout the year.
  • Maintain proper documentation of federal programs
  • Submit all evaluations and applications for federal programs.
  • Conduct training as necessary for federal programs.
  • Manage federal programs budgets (Title I, IIA, III, IV)
Other
  • Facilitate and support professional development planning, tracking, monitoring; and manage PD documentation system
  • Confirm and correct Standards for Accreditation, Cycle Reporting, and various data verification systems
  • Lead SIS Monitoring
  • Oversee, collaborate and monitor Master Schedule/Course verification process
  • Collaborate to develop school calendar
Instructional Leadership
  • Serve as a member of the District’s Leadership Team (DLT)
  • Lead and serve on interview committees as requested by the superintendent
  • Work collaboratively with district leadership and building principals to help provide professional development
  • Remain current on evidence-based instructional practices and provide a progressive vision for education within the district
Managing and Leading Staff
  • Lead and evaluate SMS Coordinator
  • Praise, coach, and discipline staff when warranted/needed
  • Promote and grow leadership amongst staff
  • Establish and model high expectations through leadership style
District Culture
  • Establish a culture that sets high expectations and promotes excellence
  • Establish and model exemplary standards of professional behavior
  • Promote the district’s mission and vision through presentations, words, and actions
  • Establish and implement strategies to ensure smooth transitions between buildings
Communication
  • Maintain open channels of communication with principals, supervisors, and district-level directors
  • Understand and promote district policies and initiatives to employees, parents, and community
  • Maintain regular, direct communication with the superintendent concerning current issues and opportunities with respect to the operations of the district
  • Oversee preparation and timely submission of necessary DESE reports
  • Operate as part of the district administration team by supporting district initiatives
  • Address School Board and staff as needed
Proficiency (or Ability To Learn) Specific School Related Programs
  • Considerable knowledge of the current legislature, literature, trends, methods and developments in the areas of assessment and testing.
  • Considerable knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • General knowledge of the principles of organization, supervision, and administration.
  • General knowledge of database, statistics, and graphical software available.
  • Skill in training and supporting school administration, data managers, and other staff.
  • Skill in designing data collection instruments such as surveys.
  • Ability to develop and implement short-and long-term goals that would move the testing and accountability program in the district forward.
  • Ability to develop and present training and professional development.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports, charts and graphs from them.
