POSITION SUMMARY 

As a Purchasing Coordinator at First America Homes, you will be an integral part of our purchasing team, managing the procurement process for new home constructions across the Greater Houston area. This role is crucial for ensuring that our homes are built efficiently, cost-effectively, and to our high standards. You will have a range of responsibilities, from managing new starts and generating purchase orders to acting as a liaison between our construction teams in the field and the corporate office.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage new starts: Oversee the initiation of new home projects for communities, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all processes.
  • Purchase Orders: Generate and update purchase orders for new homes and selection updates. Approve and distribute variance purchase orders promptly.
  • Newstar Operating System: Utilize Newstar for updating new start information and setting up new communities in the purchasing software. 
  • Data Management: Assist with the updates of purchase orders and data entry of specific payroll invoices.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between the construction team in the field and the corporate office, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Support Duties: Provide assistance with various purchasing duties and manage stage moves as instructed by construction managers. 
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 
Experience: Prior purchasing experience with a homebuilder is highly preferred. Familiarity with the Newstar operating system is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of general purchasing and accounts payable verbiage specific to the homebuilding industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Learning Attitude: Eager to learn, with a positive attitude towards challenges.
  • Teamwork: Desire to work in a team environment and contribute positively to the company culture.
  • Able to work full time on site in The Woodlands, Texas
